DBS  Help Desk ©  is one of my most comprehensive help desk programs to date.  It includes many of the suggestions and requests I have received from users of my other help desk programs.  This program provides the ability to have users submit support requests via browser and this will update the problems database.   In addition, the ability to update hardware, software and peripheral information via browser can be very convenient for when technicians installing hardware/software at the user's work area.

NOTE:  (The A is for Apache)  In my personal testing, I have found the web features work best with the Apache Http Server for Windows, however, you some users have reported that they were able to install it using Microsoft's PWS or IIS.  Personally, I have only felt comfortable installing the program on PWS but will update this version when I feel more comfortable with recommending IIS.  At present, I only support installations on Apache.

The data files are in .DBF format so you can access your data with other software if you choose.  However, the many reports can also be exported to other file formats as well, including Microsoft Excel Charts and Pivot Tables.

NOTE:  I just posted version 1.4 on 9/12/2000.  The help file has not been updated.  One of the main differences in this version is the use of drop down lists in grid views as well as on record-at-a-time form views.  This may speed data entry in grid view.

NOTE:  I just posted version 1.5a on 10/28/2000.  This (hopefully) corrected some installation problems.  If you have installed an earlier version, the data file format has NOT been changed.  You may want to backup your data files, then uninstall any previous version, including the files you copied to Apache's CGI-BIN and HTDOCS directory.  Then, install the current version.
