1/15/2005 - I have
just uploaded a version 7.01. This came about as a
result of an email I received from someone who did not have
names on Tithe envelopes, just the number. This made
it more difficult to enter tithes than it would at churches
that had the member name on the envelope, or churches that
don't even use envelopes for collecting contributions.
Version 7.01 adds a button with a magnifying glass on it.
When you click that button a
list will be displayed to let you select the member. You can
sort on Member Name or Envelope Number (the sort field will
have a + sign on it and will be 'remembered' the next time
you start the program) and then begin typing either the name
or the number and when you match the member you are adding a
tithe for click the Select button to return to the Tithes
update screen. NOTE: I also have added hover tips to
show required fields. For example you cannot save a
tithe record without a Gift Date and Gift Amount. The
tips shows these fields are required. Also, adding
tithes can be done in batch mode. As you click OK to
save each record, the gift date, amount, fund and gift
methods are 'blanked out' so you can just select another
member, and continue adding contribution records. When
finished, just click the Cancel Button.

I hope this small change will be useful to others as
well. If you find something you don't like about the
program please take a minute to email me. I really
don't want anyone to be dissatisfied with my software, which
is why all of my programs are downloadable as fully
functional 30 day trial versions. I really did read my
email when a suggestion like the one made recently makes
sense to me, I am not too proud to admit there is a better
way than mine. Thanks, Alan, if you read this, for
your excellent suggestion.
12/19/2004 - Church
Secretary 32 version 7.0 is complete. This coming week
I will be notifying as many current registered users as I
can and sending them a new password, I will be updating the
web site and removing download links to older versions, and
oh yes, changing the price. Version 7.0 will be sold
initially at $129 per church - as soon as I get the ordering
links updated. You can download
version 7.0 now!
Church Secretary for Windows 32 version 7.0
The next version of Church Secretary is now available.
This version has many changes and new features and is
the first where I am including integrated backup and restore features. A
new Explorer Bar offers another way to navigate between the screens and reports
in the program in addition to the conventional drop down menus. I have
made some changes to the database format in the next release, so unfortunately
anyone who is using an earlier version will not be able to just immediately
begin using their "old" data files. However, I will offer free
data conversion services for the first month or two after version 7.0 is
released and will help any registered user of version 6.0, 5.0 or 4.1 to convert
their existing data to the new format.
Download
a fully functional 30 day version and try before you buy.
You can also view
the on line help for the new version in your browser.
The price of the program is now $129 per church, but I still believe this program will continue to
be a real value to churches of all sizes. Registered users of any earlier
version will receive a free upgrade to version 7.0 for the asking, but a new
password will be required. Contact me
for more information if you have any questions.
Version 7.0 includes a wide variety of themes or styles to let you change the
look of the program and a theme editor will be included to let you change the
background images and colors if you prefer. Some samples are shown below.

The Query Wizard has also changed in version 7.0 and includes a new Quick
Filter button to make it easier to quickly filter the data displayed on a browse
screen when you only want to search a single field.
There are many new changes in the next version and I am working hard to make
sure it is the best version ever.
