The Browse Problems Screen now has a Style Manager button to let you set up colors and fonts to indicate records meeting certain criteria.

When you click the Style Manager button and add a new style (or change and existing style) you will see a screen with two tabs.  The first is where you select columns to apply a style to (or right click and select all) and enter some other information about the style.  In this example I am creating a style to apply to problems with a status of 'New' so I name the style New.  The text I want to evaluate, and apply a style to uses the Field PRO:Status.  If you click inside the box that says "evaluate this text) a fields button will be enabled.  Click that button to pop up a list of fields.  After selecting a field enter an operator, in my case the equal = sign and then enclosed in apostrophes the text you want to test for.

In addition to changing the appearance of rows matching your criteria, you can also have the tool tip displayed when you hover the mouse over rows matching that condition.

You can choose no text for the tool tip, the Style Name, the text you are evaluating, custom text such as "This is a new problem, get to it immediately" don't enter the quotes,  or evaluate custom text.  For this last tool tip you would just enter the field name, such as PRO:Status.

The second tab is where you can either select a predefined style or set your own colors and fonts.

The style manager is really not that hard to use.  In version 8.0 some had written that the use of colored icons in the first column was not flexible enough since I had hard coded conditions to the icons.  Hopefully the style manager will be more flexible and useful.  As with all changes I welcome comments and suggestions.  Just email dennis@lnsoftware.com
