The Report Wizard used for creating custom list style reports has also been greatly enhanced in this version.
The next few screen shots will go through the process of creating reports using the new wizard.
The first step in creating a report is to give it a name. This will be used as the report title and should give you an idea of the subject of the report so you can identify it quickly the next time you want to use the report.
Next we just select the fields on the right side that we want to appear on the report and add them in the order we want them displayed on the report, from left to right. If we want to total any numeric field we can click the Total or Average check box.
The advanced button is new in this version and allows you to apply special formatting to column headers and data, and to change the column headings, replacing them with words of your own choosing.
So after choosing the columns to display, and applying any other formatting, the next step is to choose the sort order. By choosing custom sort order rather than the default order or a predefined sort column, we can choose up to 4 columns to sort by, see below.
On the next screen we can set up grouping options. I can set a sort order to print in a heading or footer, and can include totals or averages. I can also make the report "roll up" - suppressing the report details and getting a count or total only for each group level. NOTE: If you want to do a roll up report, don't include the column you want to group on in the report itself - just add it to a Sort order. An example is further down, but remember I excluded the Status from appearing on the report for the Roll Up version.
The next screen, the last part of this wizard will let me specify Portrait or Landscape or let the wizard decide automatically. I can also add grand totals.
Finally, I can add notes about the report if I want to. The next screen shot shows the finished report.
Next is a screen shot of the same basic report, but as roll up, details suppressed.
I think you will find the report wizard very easy to use, and if you have used an earlier version of Been There, Done That! I hope you will find the new features helpful.
